“I was in school when t.A.T.u first came onto the scene with this track and it terrified me. It was everywhere. I was so embarrassed when it would come on tv in front of my family, that my reaction to it would somehow out me. If I changed the channel too quickly it would draw attention to it but if I left it on I was enjoying it too much. How problematic the creators were doesn't interest me much now since the cultural landscape is much different (and it's been discussed at great lengths) but I am happy to be able to finally enjoy this absolute banger of a tune. Playing it out has been incredible and has inspired many super queer make out sessions at my live shows so I'm happy to contribute to reclaiming this track and creating a new legitimately queer legacy for it!”
