Omega Sapien (real name: Jung Eui Suk) is the Frontman of Seoul’s tastemaking new k-pop group Balming Tiger. Balming Tiger have drawn comparisons to Odd Future for their off the wall, colourful, pop take on rap music. His distinct fashion sense has stars lining up for collabs and he’s featured with CL, and on the pages of Hypebeast and DAZED in Korea. On the Wuga EP, Omega joins forces with NYC hitmaker and DJ, Baauer, for six tracks inspired by Timbaland and Missy’s winning formulae, rebooted for the sonic landscape of 2022. “Wuga” is Korean slang for caveman; and even with futuristic features from Sega Bodega and Vernon of K-pop royalty, SEVENTEEN, these tracks grunt, fizz and pop with youthful energy. Omega Sapien is an important new voice and a hyped ‘one to watch’.
